What is Laparoscopy ?

Laparoscopy is called ‘Minimal Access Surgery, It is a way of doing surgery using small incisions (usually no more than I/2 cm long). It is performed using specialized equipment and requires special skill.

What happens during the procedure?

After giving general anesthesia, a small incision is made in the navel and 2-3 small incisions in the lower abdomen. During the procedure, the abdomen is filled with gas which allows pelvic organs to be seen more clearly. The camera attached to the laparoscope allows visualization of the pelvic organs on a screen. Instruments are inserted through small incisions into the abdomen to perform the surgery.

How is a Hysteroscopy surgery done?

During a hysteroscopy, a hysteroscope is inserted into your vagina. Hysteroscope is a long, thin tube containing a light and camera. Doctor will be able to see into your cervix and inside your uterus. If they find anything abnormal, they can take a sample for later testing.

What can I expect after a hysteroscopy?

You’ll probably be able to go home soon after. But if you received local or general anesthetic, you’ll need someone to drive you.
